… doesn’t come very often in my life at CVM. But here I am in the middle of one of the rare moments where I don’t have an exam at all during the week. And it’s pretty nice to know I can relax and just chill for a bit and not worry too much about any impending exams. Lots of things are going on right now. About to really get started with my thesis work (which is the characterization of…

I’m extremely tired right now. This week has been extremely taxing, and I have three exams this week. Two of which I’ve already taken in both Large Animal Surgery and Zoonoses. Today was basically my “day off” with no exam, but I still have to finish studying for my final exam this week for Ruminant Medicine tomorrow. Yesterday we just extremely tiring. I got up at 6am and didn’t get home until 8pm which pretty much made my day about…

Okay, so not really, but it HAS been awhile since I’ve blogged and I thought that now would be a good time to update you all on what I’ve been up to. Of course, the last time I put up a blog it was to say that it was almost Christmas time and I was about to fly back to NY. Well now I’m back in the Philippines getting back to the grind. But I thought I should summarize what…

Yes guys, guess WHAT TIME IT IS? It’s almost time for Christmas! Can you believe it? In just 7 more days it will be Christmas. And guess what? I’m in the airport right now about to leave for Hong Kong and then I go on a direct flight to New York City. I’m again sorry for not posting in awhile. I’ve been busy with Christmasey stuff. Christmas parties, gift-wrapping, final exams and the like. I’ve had to deal with a…

Hey guys, Right now I’m in a resort in Anilao, Batangas, Philippines waiting for breakfast to be served. I have a cup of coffee on my right and am typing this on my netbook right now. The view at this time is pretty amazing. It’s 7am and the water looks pretty calm and the sky is pretty blue and the cloud are flying by. We have another dive trip soon, and will be making a total of 2 today at…

This past Saturday, November 20th, was my birthday. My 25th birthday to be exact. I didn’t mention this fact in previous posts because I initially did not really want to make my birthday a big deal. The fact of turning a quarter of a century did not seem like a big milestone to me… in fact, I kind of was embarrassed since I was getting so old. But I realized that it was still something to celebrate and that getting…

Packing for HK!I took my last final in Veterinary Medicine I and now I’m done! The final wasn’t that hard. All I have to do is more or less pass the final to pass the class, but it’s finally over! EDIT: Just found out that I passed the class… woohoo! I just came back from running errands and picking up some last minute gifts for my girlfriend’s family, and now I’m working on packing the other things I need. Gosh…

It’s amazing how this week has turned out. Just took a surgery final for the lecture and lab yesterday and today I finished up our final for VETC 171, which is Clinics 1. It is a mandatory final, since each of our rotation heads grades each and every one of us during our respective duties. The final wasn’t that hard, and hopefully everything went well with everything I’ve taken so far. So I have the weekend coming up. I have…

So today’s been kind of a long day for me. Just yesterday I took my first final which was in my third and last veterinary physiology course, which specializes in reproduction and endocrinology. It was a tricky 76-question true or false exam and both of my professors are known for being really unpredictable in this area. I stayed there in the classroom for almost 2 hours making sure I had put my best answers down. I spent most of the…

I was skimming my friend Kendra’s blog and she just posted a very interesting article on physician depression, burnout and suicide. I read through the entire thing and it seems that there has been a shift away from, “Is it really happening?” to “Why is it happening?” It seems pretty obvious that those in the medical profession are more likely to burnout and commit suicide. As the article states there’s a 40% increase in suicide rates for male doctors and…

Ah, so it has come. The last two weeks of class. I am not anticipating this one bit. So it’s the last two weeks of class. This week I’ve had a slew of exams and I have my final Pathology exam tomorrow for lecture. There’s a lot of material, but I’ll get through it and finish it today. Today’s the only day that I can say that I have a break in all of this craziness. The upcoming week will…

This is actually long over due since I took this trip about 2 weeks ago, and I’ve been meaning to blog about this for awhile but just haven’t gotten around to it. Since I have a little free time on my hands, I thought I’d post about it. My friend Miguel is a classmate of mine at CVM and so he invited all of our rotation to come out and hang out with him at his home in Batangas. We…
