Oh Boy… What a Rut

“ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.”

That is all I want to say after today. So I’m sorry I haven’t been posting in awhile guys. I’ve just been really busy with school and tests and projects and what have you. And it’s driving me up the wall. Seriously, it is.

I took a Parasitology test this morning and it did not go well. It did not go well at all. We had 70 multiple choice questions and a set of enumeration to deal with at the end. All of the students in my Parasitology class really only had a weekend to study for it? Why? Because when we petitioned to move it from last Friday to next Monday (October 12th), we went through all the trouble of getting it signed by everyone in our class (60+ people), and we had the word of our professor that if we got the signatures, we would get it moved to the date we wanted which is a week from now. Instead, late Friday night when the Parasitology professors were mulling over their decision (which was weird in the first place, because there shouldn’t have been anything to mull over once we got the signatures, we thought) they decided the test was not to be scheduled for October 12th, but instead for October 5th, which is today. Meanwhile, due to a supposed Super Typhoon that was supposed to hit Friday our Immunology test, which was also to be taken on Friday, was postponed till today as well. Well guess what. The typhoon never hit us and took a U-turn for Japan. Now that’s great and all (I mean the last thing I want is for the Philippines to get hit with another Ondoy/Ketsana), but that meant that I had to study for two tests today, both of which I was not fully prepared for.

Okay, okay… maybe I was ready for one of them. For the Immunology test, which I just came back from, I believe that I did okay. I mean I was prepared to take it on Friday, but since it was postponed last minute we had to wait a couple of more days. That I’m okay with… But for Parasitology… we just didn’t have enough time. This week is just worse than the last. This week I have scheduled 5 tests, and 1 project. Two of which are over now, two of which will be held Wednesday (Ruminant Production and Pharmacology) and another test on Friday (Pathology Lab). Add to the mix a Parasitology presentation that we have to do on Friday and I’ve got a whole list of things to catch up on this week.

I know, I know… I’m complaining a little. But it just sucks that our Parasitology test was not moved to the date we asked for. It would’ve saved us time to study for the other things we have this week and we could’ve all done better on the exam. It might’ve helped some of us get exempt from the final examination, but I think after this one, a lot of people are going to have to take it. Including me.

Okay, I’m going to stop posting now. I should really get back to work. But I wanted to get all of this off my chest.

I hope all of you guys are doing well and are surviving. To all you other vet students out there… keep on truckin’ guys! We can do this.

P.S.
— Check out some new artwork that I did for Spectacle! forums. My design is entering a voting competition and if I happen to win, my picture of Min Sun Ye (the leader of the Wonder Girls) will be put on a shirt to be sent to Sun Ye as a personal gift. Click here to check it out. Send me your suggestions and comments. I’d love to see if I can improve upon it if possible. Thanks guys, and I’ll see you all on the flip-side!

More Headaches

Hey guys,

I just got done with a hellish kind of week and there is more to come.  I took my Parasitology lab tests this week, one of which was the final.  I think I did alright on them, but like every other test there were just a couple of them I wasn’t too sure about.  I guess I’ll find out the results next week.

The students right now are in the middle of petitioning for our tests next week to be moved.  We’re supposed to have an Immunology test this Wednesday, but we’re trying to push that to Friday and the Parasitology lecture exam we’re supposed to have on Friday is hopefully going to be moved to the following Monday.  Us CVM students are just really inundated with classes and tests and since it’s the end of the semester we really have to make this all count.  So wish us luck.

After taking the Parasitology lab final yesterday, it started raining really badly.  I went to bed around midnight and when I woke up at 6am this morning the rain had not stopped.  I think we’re in the middle of some kind of typhoon, but right now all I want to do is just relax a little bit this morning before I start hitting my parasitology and immunology notes.

One thing that has been bothering me is that I haven’t been able to talk much with my girlfriend, friends and family back home during these past few weeks.  With the end of the semester coming and with how brain-dead I am right now, I’m starting to miss them a lot.  I just hope that they’re doing well, although I know that they’re busy too.

Anyways, I’m going to get some breakfast and chill for a bit before hitting the books.  I wish everybody who is in the midst of finals exams the best.  Good luck to us!

Tests and Fun Times

Whew, the week is over! Gosh, if I haven’t said this before, this past week has gone by so quickly! I just took a test for my Ruminant Production lab and it was a little tricky. My professor asked some questions about grasses and legumes that I could not for the life of me remember the details of! I know that I screwed up a little bit, but I hope that in the end I’ll get exempt from the final.

All our drinks!

This past week I also took a Pharmacology exam, which went alright. It was also tricky (but what test I take isn’t) but I think I did pretty okay for the most part. I didn’t walk out there thinking I perfected it, but I do hope at the very least I did better than average. I don’t want to say much until I get my grade back, but let’s hope that I did okay!

My watermelon shake

In the last few days I’ve had some people come over to chill. Since I have a pretty big loft on the 3rd floor of a building with a balcony and also have a laptop with a 17 inch monitor my place is usually the place to hang out when my friends are tired from exams and just want to watch a movie or two. On Wednesday my friends came over for a Zombie Movie Night, where we watched Evil Dead 2. James, Rosebelle and my Korean friend Jae and his girlfriend Elma came over and it was a lot of fun. We were going to watch Evil Dead 3, but since Rosebelle thought that Evil Dead 2 was really corny (which, if you ever watched it, is true) we ended up watching another movie I had on my hard-drive: 27 Dresses. So much for Zombie Movie Night huh? Haha…

Belle's Green Mango Shake

Anyway, after that we ended up watching some Wonder Girls videos from my drive (I’ve been downloading more and more each day… it gives me something to do while I study), and then Jae decided to show us some really sad Korean music videos online. It was already around 1am the next day, and we had just watched 2 movies straight, so we were a little tired but we watched them anyway. I think James is traumatized and surprised at how sad some Korean videos are. (Get used to it! It’s always been that way! Hahaha….) If you haven’t watched sad, Korean music videos before I suggest you click here, to get started. It’s KISSBecause I’m A Girl, the music video. It’s a very old music video from early 2000 I believe. It’s about 10 minutes long, but hey, that was the trend back then. Check it out and tell me what you think.

Braised Pork

Today after our Ruminant Production test, our Immunology class was canceled since Dr. Sanchez was out sick so James, Belle and I decided to head to a local Chinese restaurant called Ding Hao. We tried their Peking Chicken dish, along with some braised pork and some crispy noodle special they had. The food ended up being alright–I guess after eating at my girlfriend Jeannie’s place with her family (she’s pure Chinese), nothing really beats that, so I was a little disappointed. I haven’t really had any kind of real authentic Chinese food here in the Philippines as of yet. I’m super surprised that there aren’t any good restaurants around, but maybe I’m just not looking hard enough. In New York and New Jersey, you can find tons of good places and most of them are not that expensive. If you’re in the Philippines and know of a good place to check out please let me know! I’d love to find a good Chinese place to eat at.

Rosebelle!

Right now, I’m in the midst of studying for my Parasitology laboratory test and final, both of which are taking place next week. There is just under a month left to the end of this semester, so I’m a little anxious to see how it all will end. I will most likely be taking some finals, but I hope that I’ll be alright in the end. I’ve been keeping my head above water for the most part though, so I know I’ll pull through.

Peking Chicken

I just gotta keep on truckin’. That’s my motto until I end this semester. Let the ending spiral begin!

P.S. — I’m downloading a series featuring the Wonder Girls working with some upcoming patissiers. It was done a year or two ago, but I think it’s really interesting that they were all competing against each other for the $10,000 prize. They basically have to complete missions to come up with the best cakes for gifts to people who need them. I’ve only seen the first episode, but it’s pretty cool! You guys should check it out!
