finals

So… Yeah…

I needed to take a break from studying. I have a really huge Parasitology final tomorrow and I’ve been studying for hours. I really need to stop and take a short break, because my head is going crazy with all these freakin’ parasite life cycles and names. And what I’m afraid of is actually forgetting them tomorrow. Aish, I really hope they stick. :P

Anyway, today I found out that I passed my Surgery I class. All in all I placed 6th in the entire surgery class, so that’s fine by me. I got an 18/19 on the laboratory part of the final which I was happy about and did really well the lecture part as well. So that’s a load off my back.

I took my Microbiology final today. I’m crossing my fingers and hoping I did well enough on it to pass the class. Finals always freak me out because you never know what they’re going to throw at you. I won’t say anything until I get the results back, but yeah… it’s pretty nerve-wracking.

Anyway, just wanted to get that out there. I’m going to go back to studying. Wish me luck guys. I think I’ll need it.

*crosses fingers*

Finals are still going!

Yessir, finals here are at the University of the Philippines: Los Banos are still taking place and guess what? It’s HARD! Hahaha…

So, I took a Pharmacology final on Wednesday, which really sucked. It was basically an exam made of 3 professor’s parts, so in essence it was 3 exams in the span of an hour. 3/4 of it was alright, since at least it was multiple choice, but then again, there was a whole part that was solely identification so if you did not go over any of the material there, then you would’ve been sunk. Afterwards though I got some information from my friend Belle who’s part of an organization at the college and she had heard from one of her professor friends that me, her and a lot of other friends passed Pharmacology. But the mortality rate? A whopping 48%. That’s almost 30 people, I believe. Gosh, they’re really making it hard for people…

Anyway, yesterday I had to go through 2 final exams.  One for the surgery lecture and one for the surgery laboratory exam.  I’m crossing my fingers that I passed, which I think I did because I knew most of the material on the exam.  The lab part kind of flustered me a little bit but hopefully I did well on that too.  The surgery final wasn’t as hard as it could have been, and I’m grateful for that.  I spent a lot of time the day prior for that final so I’m hoping I did well.  My average is already above the needed score to pass, so I basically just need to make sure that this exam is at least passing or at least not too below passing.  But I’m pretty sure I aced the lecture part. *crosses fingers*

Anyway, I believe that I have to take two more finals and that’s in Microbiology and Parasitology which are this coming Monday and Tuesday respectively. I’m going to get cracking on them today, but last night I took a break and worked out (which I haven’t done in awhile) and also enjoyed some good food.  Today I’m still resting a bit and will run some errands before I start again.

I have a package in the mail right now waiting for me so I just have to pick it up.  I think it might be some Wonder Girls merchandise that I ordered awhile ago.  So excited to pick it up!

Okay, gonna go get on those errands. Catch ya later!

One More Final To Go

I’m sorry I haven’t posted in awhile. I’ve been really busy with school and since it’s the end of the semester I’ve been in the middle of dealing with finals and such.

Yesterday I took my Immunology final. I really hope that I did well enough to pass the class. It was a straightforward final and I’m hoping that my answers were what my professor was looking for. I was able to answer all of the questions on the test (even the bonus). So… *crosses fingers* hopefully I did well.

Today, I went to the college with James to find out if we were exempted from taking the Pharmacology final and guess what? We both were! So after exempting from three classes so far (Pharmacology, Pathology and Ruminant Production), and also taking the Immunology final, we have one big obstacle in our way: Parasitology.

The final will be held this Wednesday from 8-10am. Out of all of my classes this year, I have been struggling with this the most. So since I have about 5 days to study, I’m going to take all of my time to focus on that subject. It’s really important that I pass that exam, as I will need that class to take up surgery next year. My friend Renan (Dr. Martin now), who graduated from UPLB’s CVM about 5-6 years ago has been giving me advice on how to handle the course load. He’s a very smart guy. Like really smart. But even he said that he struggled with the course. He ended up taking the final and then taking the removals (which is a test in which is the final barrier… it will decide whether you pass or not). He ended up acing it in the end. I really hope that I don’t have to go as far as removals are concerned, but anything’s possible. Parasitology is the one class that has been keeping me down all year and I intend to beat it down with a stick.

In other news, this morning I received a package from the US. I didn’t know this, but my parents had sent me an automated phone system this past week and it just arrived this morning. I opened the package and it’s really quite cool. The outside of the box looks like something Apple would make and when I opened it there was the Ooma Hub in the package itself, as well as the Ooma Scout. The Ooma is a VOIP-based telephone system, so I don’t actually need a phone line for it to work. I just need a working phone set, a broadband connection, a computer and of course electricity to plug into for the Ooma. So far I’ve got everything set to go… except the phone set. My friend James was kind enough to take me out this morning to go look for a phone set but to my very surprise, I was not able to find a telephone to buy here in Los Banos. That alone kind of irks me, just because I mean, what if people really needed to buy a phone? We hit up Robinson’s Handyman (a well-known hardware store in the Philippines), Maquiling Home Depot (which is like a Home Depot in the states), and even the local mall and none of them carried phones. I really wanted to test out my Ooma today, but since I probably have to go all the way down to Manila to actually get a decent phone and have to study for Parasitology this Wednesday I’m going to have to wait until after Wednesday to celebrate by calling my folks and girlfriend. (Argh, foiled again by the lack of supplies in Los Banos! Damn you!!)

Anyway, in other news, remember that picture that I posted awhile ago with Sun Ye and the word “sexy?” My picture got picked to be put on a shirt that will be delivered personally to Sun Ye!! After all the voting was done I was picked! How sweet is that? That means that my artwork will be worn by the leader of the Wonder Girls! I just hope she likes it!

Alright, I think I’ve procrastinated long enough. I better go and hit the books. Wish me luck guys!
