traveling…

Oh, so guess what guys. I’ve left my apartment in Ithaca to attend a Filipino Intercollegiate Networking Dialogue (FIND) Leadership Retreat and Conference Run-through. Because of FIND, I get to travel all over the Eastern seaboard and meet great people while working towards a stronger, united Filipino student community. I’m still in the process of the meeting, but hopefully I’ll be back in Ithaca sometime today (I have a bunch of meetings I have to attend to, so hopefully I can make it back if the weather permits).

I’d like to congratulate District VII on the approval of their Dialogue 2007 Bid. You all did an amazing job and you should all be proud of yourselves. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen a bid go through the FIND National Board without saying that it would be “Approved Pending Changes.” This one was so good that we just said, “Approved!” So good job guys. Don’t let us down!

Since I’m talking about FIND stuff, for my Filipino readers out there (and those who are just interested in Filipino issues), the next FIND Conference will be held at Ramapo College in Mahwah, NJ. The details can be found here at www.findinc.org/conference2007. If you want to book a hotel and get the group rate, please do not do it online and call the hotel personally to reserve the rooms or else you will not get the group rate. Make sure you mention that you’re under FIND, Inc. and they’ll reserve your rooms for the lower price. This is FIND’s biggest event of the year, so please come out and meet other delegates like you! You’d be surprised how much you can learn from the workshop sessions, and how much fun you will be having too!

Today I also got to spend some time with my cousin Rommel, who hails from the Philippines. I hung out in NYC since I had a day break from FIND and decided to watch The Producers and visit some of my other cousins back in Queens for dinner. It was a nice time and it was nice to be away from Ithaca to enjoy what the city had to offer as well as some authentic, warm Filipino food.

I’m not sure when I’ll be leaving for Ithaca today–I’m still in the midst of packing and finishing up some FIND things, but hopefully I’ll be able to make it to my meetings in Ithaca later. I just hope the snow I see falling outside my window is not going to get in my way during my travels.

It’s so nice to travel… it gives me such a great feeling to be away from Cornell every once in awhile.

Anyway, just wanted to update you guys. Catch ya on the flip side!

Much Love to 6teen.ca

Hey guys,

A new piece of artwork is ready for upload, so I’m sorry for all the hiatuses. It’s my last year of college, and well–things have been a bit hectic. This piece is a special piece since it’s something that I created for a literary magazine called LIKHA, a Cornell Filipino Association project. It features new characters and is really a short story so I hope you enjoy this little break away from the norm.

Today, after a whole day of class and strenuous studying I ended up taking a break and pulling out a random DVD from my collection to watch. After brushing off the dust on the cover I realized that it was my 6teen DVD that I ordered from Canada over a year ago. I popped it into my computer and realized how much I loved the series. Being all nostalgic and all, I popped into the 6teen.ca site and forums to check up on how things had been going. Once logged into the forums I was bombarded with Private Messages (PMs) from members that I had known and talked with long ago. All of them mentioned that they missed me and hoped that I would become active again. I really missed everyone too and this forum is the only place that I was able to connect with fans of the series all over the world.

It was a great experience being part of the community and so here’s a shout-out to all the 6teen.ca forum members out there. The site is still striving and kicking and I plan to come back with full force. You guys totally RULE!

Anyway, here’s your new artwork. Enjoy!

Happy New Year! And Goodbye!

I want to let everyone of my readers and fellow web-comic artists know that I wish you all a very Happy New Year! May 2007 bring many more delights and benefits in your life, as well as many resolutions to be broken. :-)

So I didn’t get to see the ball drop in NYC this New Year’s Eve. Not quite an unfortunate event, because it doesn’t really mean much to watch it on TV, but then again I can’t remember a time when I didn’t watch the ball drop. I was spending some time with a few family friends of mine and their TV wasn’t working so we couldn’t watch it. Not too bad an incident. The food was good, and there was the ceremonial throwing of money on the floor for good luck. Of course, the kids took to it like ravage beasts, so that was entertaining too. Who needs TV when you can see small 9 year old kids duke it out over quarters and one-dollar bills? :-D

These two past weeks have been a blur, but a good blur. I got to meet up with some friends of mine who I haven’t seen in months, and it’s good to know that I got to see them before I go. “Go where?,” you ask. Well, I’ll be headed alone overseas tomorrow on an evening flight to the Philippines. I’m going to be spending two weeks there with my friends Niki, Elise, Rianna, and Kat. It’ll be my first time to the motherland, so it should be a fun time. I’ll be visiting Boracay, one of the top 10 rated beaches in the world, among other things. I’m excited to be going on this trip, and I really do think I need to get away from things for awhile. Let’s just hope that my flight doesn’t get botched up in some strange way.

So off I go to shower and get some more things ready. The next comic will not be following a story-line, but will kind of be a PBC Special Edition copy. As a Secret Santa gift during a recent gift-exchange I took part in, I promised my friend BJ that I’d do a self-portrait of him and publish him in my comic for a one-issue deal. However, depending on what reactions I get to his character he may make a few more appearances along the line so make sure to shoot me some feedback when it’s finally uploaded to the site.

Anyway, that’s it I have for now. My friend Kim is having her birthday tomorrow and I’ll be seeing her and her sister Melissa too right before I leave so it should be fun. So guys, continue what you’re doing and continue having fun. I’ll see you guys in two weeks.
