Time Is Flyin’!

Looks like another week is over! I don’t know why, but it just seems that lately time has been flying. Week after week just seems to go by and everytime I find myself relieved that another week of school is done. I guess though that it’s important when tests and more quizzes start coming by again. But for now I’m happy that another week has past.

The last week was kind of filled with ups and downs. I’ve been studying, but more interestingly I’ve been consumed in ideas for the new comic. New character designs have been popping into my head for a zombie apocalypse. I’ve decided for now that I’m going to put the PBC on hiatus (haha, as if it hasn’t been on hiatus enough already!) and start a new comic. I’ll be coming up with some characters and coming up with more storyboards and scripts. When I’ll finish with the first comic I’ll let you know.

Next test that is coming up in a week: Parasitology lecture exam.

Tomorrow, I’m going to the Philippine Carabao Center and the Dairy Training & Research Institute to collect parasites for our parasitology project that will be due in about 2 1/2 months. We’re getting a head start because in a week or two, we’ll be inundated with tests and who knows when we’ll have some free time. After the collection tomorrow, James and I are heading to Manila to get ready to attend a party for his cousin Macky who has just passed the bar to become a lawyer. His family is holding him a nice party to celebrate. It shall be full of good times. I will try and post pictures of my adventures at the barns tomorrow, collecting parasites. It shall be fun.

I will let you know how that all goes. I think that tonight I’ll be going to bed early. I’m dead tired.

Take care guys!

Long Days Just Keep Getting Longer

Today was a majorly busy day. I stayed on campus pretty much from 8am through 5pm. I started off the day with a parasitology lecture and then headed into a 3 hour lab session with presentations on pharmacological drugs and reports. After that I had some lunch and then headed into my immunology class where we were given a quiz not on things we were supposed to study, but actually on the lecture that he had just given to us a couple of minutes before. Luckily, I was paying attention so I could answer the question right. It totally threw me off guard for a bit because I was expecting him to ask some questions about the other 6 topics that we had gone over. Thank goodness he didn’t. After that I had another 1 1/2 hour pharmacology lecture which is now being taught by Dr. Estacio, who was my physiology teacher last year. She’s extremely smart and heavy into the specific receptors and drugs that are affected in animals. It’s interesting to say the least, but towards the end of the day I wasn’t feeling too well and I had a strange headache.

After class I headed to the grocery store to pick up some items, made myself a little dinner and got some rest. I’d been deprived of sleep for the last couple of days, doing my presentation for Pharmacology and studying for the Immunology class quiz I was to have today. It turned out that all the work I did last night was kind of pointless just because my Pharmacology professor scheduled us for next week to present instead of this week, and also because what I stayed up to study for the Immunology quiz didn’t even turn up. I feel like I lost a lot of sleep because of all of that, but then again, on the bright side, I was able to get all of this stuff out of the way.

Already looking forward to the weekend. Apparently, we have another 3-day weekend ahead of us because for some reason, we have Monday off. I never know why we get these days off… sometimes it seems totally random to me. But I’m not complaining. I could use that day to get some more sleep.

Anyway, the rest of the week I don’t have much, except just to get through classes. Just wanted to update this blog before I crashed again.

Now off to sweet, sweet bed…

A New Look… Finally!

Alright guys, so here it is… the new revision to the JoNPiNoY Productions web-site. It’s pretty isn’t it? I have to thank my friend Craig (www.craigpfau.com) for helping me integrate this new theme into my current WordPress and ComicPress web-site setup. Thanks to his CSS/PHP knowhow, I was able to get the functionality out of the ComicPress template and also get the modern look I wanted. There are a few kinks that need to be worked out, but for the most part, this site is pretty stable. Craig and I will be putting the finishing touches to the site as time passes, but again I have to thank him for his help and expertise. He also does some dabbling in programming and game making and such so you guys should definitely check out his site. He’s definitely a multi-talented guy. Thanks again, Craig! I couldn’t have done all of this without you.

In other news, I believe that I will start a comic pretty soon. I’m still thinking about continuing with the Pillow Book Chronicles story-arc that I had started about 4 years ago, but I’ve had other ideas on my mind. While a lot of things have been spinning in my mind for the past couple of weeks, a new topic came to light lately. Just recently, a friend and I had a strange conversation about what would happen if zombies had taken over the world. Where would we go? How would we arm ourselves? What would be the best type of transportation? How would we deal with the moral dilemma of killing those who had turned into zombies? What would happen if more than 90% of the world was overrun by the living dead? And most importantly, how would we survive?

This conversation has been going on now off-and-on for days and come to think of it… it may be the very next story-arc that I’ve been looking for. Zombies have been dealt with in the media and in other comics sure, but there’s so much depth to a story like that in which I could spin it. I’m still thinking if I would make it a short series or if I should compile an entire other set of characters to take on a longer endeavor. Well, I guess I’ll have to see. Being in vet school doesn’t afford me a lot of time to draw, and to even start writing out the scripts for the comics is something that I’ll have to think about. But for now, I want to hear your thoughts. What would you think of a zombie web-comic? Would that entice you to read more if I could make an interesting story about them, or are they a tired subject? What elements would make it more interesting if you were to read it? Or, would you suggest another topic all together?

I’d love to hear some of your responses. I know it’s a kind of silly question, but hey, if zombies started to take over the world, what would you do? Tell me. Would you flee for your life or would you fight? How would you get from one place to another? What would be your weapon of choice? Where would be the best place to hold down fort?

I guess I’m just interested. Let me know in the comments if you have any suggestions.

Okay, I’m off to bed. I’ve got a seriously long day tomorrow…

Peace out!
